First, PLEASE watch this video and pass it on!! Many Halloween candies may be tainted with dangerous chemicals this year; and the FDA may be covering it up for election season!!!

And now, on to my actual journal:

-----

Yes, its that time of year again; my favorite time ever! The time when people can dress up like fools, act like children, and gorge on crappy candy for days on end. Who doesn't love Halloween?

Unfortunately I'm sicker than a dog right now; because a cold decided to randomly pop out of nowhere yesterday and slap me across the face. I'm trying my damnedest to sleep it off before Friday so that I can have a jolly good Halloween.

I wanted to do some Halloween-themed Beetlejuice art to celebrate the season, but considering that I still have two more sailor scouts to finish by Friday, and considering that my head feels like its about to explode; it probably won't happen. Probably. I make it a policy to never say never, however.

Also, on Tuesday evening I should finally have pictures of my Star Trek costume up; I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO BE FINISHED!!! My mother actually hijacked the costume from me and declared that she would finish it because I was too busy. I suppose I'm not complaining... but still; she stole my costume!!

-----

Finally, on a very SERIOUS note, please please PLEASE!!! watch this video and pass it on!! Many Halloween candies may be tainted with dangerous chemicals this year; and the FDA may be covering it up for election season!!!

Wow, thank you for sharing that video. I've already passed it along to a few people, and I'll be sure that more people see it as well. This probably calls for some serious reform in our industries because we need to stop buying stuff from China.

If holidays were twelve months long
And life were games and fun
And all the skies
Were filled with PSI's
...Would thinking still get done?

It's so freakin' disturbing. UGH.

Yeah. What's really frightening is that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. It's like we just haven't learned, or else this is meant as some horrifying form of population control

Ugh.
This is the second time something like this has happened D:. First it was the crack candy that was passed to kids, and now this...what is the world coming to.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

On the side note:
Good luck with your cold--those suck D:. and have fun [or try to] on the rest of the sailors :D.

We don't really have Halloween o'er here in Lithuania.

Hope your cold goes away soon.

Aw! No Halloween! :( It's my favorite holiday here in the U.S. What sorts of holidays do you guys have that we don't? Any national past-times or traditions that are uniquely Lithuanian? Just curious.

I'm hoping my cold goes away too!! NOT FUN! But it was really funny at my viola lesson today; my teacher was writing on my music and she paused and said to me, "Amanda, you have really labored breathing"

And I was like... "well... yeah. I'm dying here."

Thanks for the comment!

When you have Halloween we don't really have anything, but we have the All Saint's day on the 1st of November, and then All Souls day on the second. Pretty much generic day of the dead thing, like in most cultures. Those two days are pretty much for visiting the graves of relatives and leaving some lit candles around and such.

But we do have a day when people can put on costumes (there's a whole tradition to those) and bug people for goodies, only it's usually pancakes that you get and not candy. And it's at the end of winter, rather than in fall. I believe the day when we do that is coincides with the Shrove Tuesday or whatchamacallit, but we call it Užgavenės, and as far as I know the traditions go way back to pagan times.

I could probably come up with more things to tell, but that's what I could remember that would sort of connect with Halloween.
