Yes, it's that time of year, and tonight a rolly-poly old man will be stealing food from your house and shoving things down your chimbley.

Since I don't have any of my art supplies (I'm 2000 miles away from my studio visiting my parents and up to my waist in snow) I don't have any drawings to give yout his holiday season.

However, I wanted to give all of my lovely friends and watchers SOMETHING for being such good boys and girls, so here is my gift to you, the music of Pogo. If his music does make you warm and toasty inside then you are DEAD. DEAD DEAD DEAD.

Enjoy, and happy holidays!

So begins my last week of my first semester at Art Center (I'm counting this weekend because I have RIDICULOUS amounts of work to do)

The list of death:

1) My Design 1 book, which is to be a hand-bound hardcover masterpiece complete with gold foil, vellum overlay pages (also with gold foil) gold bound pages and a purple cover. WHY SO GAUDY, you may ask. I'm doing my book with a storybook theme, and I want it to look extravagant and royal; like a collector's edition or first edition novel from a golden era long gone. That's going to take up MOST of the weekend.

2) Whatever time I don't spend doing that, I'm going to squeeze in an epic portrait of my good friend :iconredeyeloon: for Composition and Drawing. It'll be in the same style as this:
which means it's going to take HOURS. Maybe a whole day. GUH.

3) Re-do my final composition for Head and Hands, which I was not satisfied with. That should only take a few hours, but I'm not sure. Won't get to it this weekend, most likely.

4) Wrap up my Perspective homework and study (sort of) for the "test" on Monday. Shouldn't be too hard. Yawn.

So.... um... YEAH. Good luck finding me for the next week. I'm going to be the busiest I've EVER been.

:D

So apparently I am already halfway done with my first semester at Art Center. This is the most impossibly fast that time has ever passed for me. I mean WOOOOOSH.

I know updates have been few and far between and almost entirely school related, but... let me put it this way. My hardest class usually takes between 7 to 10 hours of homework. PER WEEK. My laziest class (Perspective) is still a good 4 to 5. I HAVE A LOT OF HOMEWORK HOMG. XD

I do have a personal project in the works (a collaborative effort) but whether or not it gets posted here is not entirely up to me; and I'm not sure I would want to for legal reasons down the road. Pixar recently visited Art Center and encouraged everyone to apply for internships and I practically pooed my pants right then and there. This personal project is largely a portfolio piece and will be an exercise in animation character and production design, since I'm hugely interested in both.

SO THAT'S EXCITING.

Less exciting is that I opted out of scholarship this term because of some sudden personal drama that took me by surprise and sapped my energy at the worst possible time. I'm feeling much better now and ready to keep working my butt off; but it was a little crappy back there for a while.

OH WELL. ONWARD AND UPWARD I SAY, WHAT WHAT.

And... I'm off!

Personal Update

It's been a while since I bothered sharing the sordid details of my personal life, and since I know that a number of you are curious about what the heck is going on at Art Center, I figured I'd take a moment to jot down a quick update.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of my fifth week at Art Center, which is hard to believe. Time has never gone faster for me in my entire life. It's the most work I've ever had to do, but I can tell you that I've never been more at peace with my goals and more comfortable with my life. I'm really, really happy here. There are days when I am so worn out that I don't want to get out of my bed, but by the time I get my butt dragged to class I remember what an awesome place Art Center is and how lucky I am to be there.

The classes are the best I've ever taken, in any subject, ever. Despite the back-breaking drawing horses, a five hour class at Art Center goes by in a blink. There is never a wasted second. My teachers are unbelievably talented, knowledgeable people who are hugely worthy of respect, and yet they are mostly approachable and friendly. For the most part, my fellow classmates are talented, hard-working people with whom I can find almost instant camaraderie. There are a few bad eggs, but FEW; and if these first few weeks are anything to go by, bad eggs won't last long here.

I know that most of my recent updates have been school related, and that's going to continue for a long, long time. I no longer have spare time; I certainly don't have the time or inclination to draw personal art while school is going (I'm doing plenty of drawing already XD). However, since my Perspective course is so creative and open-ended I really don't feel suffocated by technique like I do in my other two drawing courses. It's nice to have that breathing room.

This month is going to be INSANE, because Scholarship review is at the end of the month and I've got to whip up a portfolio out of NOWHERE. I'm not allowed to use any of my entrance pieces, and I have to somehow find 7 Art Center pieces, which is nearly impossible since I've only been here for five weeks.

BUT I'M GOING TO DO IT, DARN IT. And I'm going to get me some dang moneh!

That is all.

I need to go to bed; another huge week ahead of me!
