*GASP*

ENJOY drawing backgrounds now.

How did this happen???

I remember the days of yore in middle school and high school where a really detailed "background" consisted of something utterly crap like this (aka: a COLOR) Most of my backgrounds were completely blank:



Then, I remember doing some stuff like this late in high school around when I graduated and thinking, OMG, this is WAY too hard, I HATE backgrounds!! WAH! (and other complaints):



And then some time last year it all sort of clicked. I think it was with these two pieces, when I realized that I really COULD draw things like ships and cliffs and other such "impossibilities":



My recent Beetlejuice work has taught me that you can cut a LOT of corners and still make something look passable, and I've really gotten a LOT faster at drawing pretty much everything lately. And now I'm learning that backgrounds can actually be FUN, because they enhance the story you're telling by... oh I don't know... about 10 billion times.

For example, I consider these three pieces to be utterly DEPENDENT on their backgrounds. And they were all surprisingly easy and most importantly, FUN to draw. I mean, really!! Where am I and what have I done with myself??
